Apprenticeship as a pool attendant

The Karlsruhe swimming pools are training to become a qualified pool attendant and have apprenticeships available for 2026.

General information
  • Duration of training: 3 years
  • Vocational school: Heinrich-Lanz-Schule in Mannheim
  • Start of training: 1 September
  • Practice: Training in ten pools
The field of activity
  • You monitor pool operations and ensure the safety of pool guests.
  • You will carry out first aid measures and react quickly in emergency situations.
  • You will look after and maintain the technical equipment and ensure that it runs smoothly.
  • You will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the swimming pools and outdoor facilities.
  • You will lead swimming courses and support the organisation of aqua fitness activities.
  • You will check the water quality and carry out chemical analyses.
  • You will advise and assist bathers, answer questions and pass on important information.
  • You will work as part of a team and help to ensure that all areas of the pool run smoothly.
  • You are the contact person for bathers.

During your apprenticeship, you will pass through our ten pools, all of which offer different operational processes. You will get to know a wide range of tasks, from water treatment and pool supervision to event organisation and technical maintenance.

After the training

After your apprenticeship, you will have a wide range of further training opportunities, such as master craftsman for pool operations or specialised courses in water treatment and aqua fitness. In-house promotion opportunities, such as shift and pool management in our ten pools, offer you long-term career prospects.

Specialist for swimming pool operations

We are looking for energetic full or part-time support as a trained pool attendant.

General information

The position is graded according to pay group E 6 TVöD

The field of activity
  • Supervision of pool operations
  • Monitoring the technical facilities
  • Assisting with the preparation and follow-up of seasonal operations in our outdoor pools and working in the various sauna areas and indoor pools
  • Carrying out sauna infusions
  • Maintenance, repair and green pruning work
  • Cleaning and disinfection work
What you should bring with you
  • Completed training as a qualified pool attendant (swimming pool attendant assistant)
  • Visitor-orientated and confident appearance, good knowledge of pool technology
  • Willingness to work shifts and weekends (with bonuses)
